Expansion of Our 2027 Travel Incentive Program
Each program year, we provide a travel incentive for agents and brokers to qualify for an exclusive trip sponsored by TDC Group. For this program year (July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027), TDC Group will invite agents/brokers who meet the 2027 travel incentive eligibility requirements to join us with a guest of their choice for a trip to Lake Como, Italy, from September 26–30, 2027.
We recently announced at our Annual Agents and Brokers Meeting in Napa, California, that we have retroactively (as of July 1, 2026) expanded our Lake Como qualifying options and are allowing all appointed agents/brokers for both The Doctors Company and ProAssurance to qualify based on eligible new business production generated across the combined organization.
Our expansion of the qualifying options for the trip to Lake Como is an important step toward The Doctors Company and ProAssurance operating as one unified organization and is intended to give every eligible distribution partner the opportunity to qualify through performance.

Technology Update: Portal Enhancements for Document Packaging and Downloading
The Doctors Company is committed to improving the digital experience for you and your clients, and we’ve added two new enhancements for document packaging and downloading in the Agent/Broker Portal. The enhancements apply to documents from both our new and legacy systems.
Key Features
- A “Combine Files” option has been added to the All Documents screen, giving you the ability to have all documents selected packaged into one downloadable PDF. The option to select “Separate Files” will still be available to download a separate PDF for each document.
- A preview pane will now appear at the bottom of the screen showing a document that has been selected. This allows you to preview the document before making the decision to download it or add it to a combined file.
Although we consider these new enhancements to be simple and intuitive, there is a training guide available, or you can sign up for live training.
We will also be building this new functionality for Ivans document delivery, so watch your inbox for future enhancement announcements.
For questions, contact Agency Support at agencysupport@thedoctors.com or (800) 421-2368, extension 1391.
New Defense Counsel Publication Features Insights About Our Litigation Strategies to Protect Your Clients
In September, The Doctors Company introduced Defense Counsel Advocate, a new bimonthly newsletter created to inform, educate, and connect The Doctors Company’s and ProAssurance’s defense counsel networks. Now united, we bring together more than a century of collective medical malpractice expertise, and we have one of the strongest defense panels in the country.
Each issue will feature litigation insights, defense strategies, notable case outcomes, and updates from our Claims and Legal teams in an effort to help combat the increasingly aggressive plaintiff’s bar and to continue delivering outstanding results in and out of the courtroom for your clients.
Claims Article Explains How Individual Malpractice Claims Shape the Broader Litigation Environment
Individual malpractice cases don’t just have implications for the clinicians involved. Once tort reform legislation is passed, courts—through a series of ongoing cases—attempt to interpret the intent of that legislation in specific cases. Judicial rulings in each case can shape future litigation, influence damages exposure, and affect the practical reach of medical liability reform measures for all healthcare professionals.
In “Tort Reform Beyond Legislation: How Individual Malpractice Claims Shape the Litigation Environment,” The Doctors Company Claims leaders Todd Virkus and Mark Savoie explore why this could impact how a malpractice claim against one of your clients is managed and defended, and why your client should ensure their carrier has the broad expertise necessary for the evolving litigation environment.
Implementing AI in Insurance: Insights From Deepika Srivastava
Earlier this month, Deepika Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer of The Doctors Company, spoke with Gavin Souter, Editor of Business Insurance, about AI and the opportunities it offers insurers, physicians, and patients.
In The BI Interview, Deepika highlights AI’s ability to assist insurers with processing predictable risks but emphasizes that expert judgment is essential for complex exposures. Speed matters, but a quick price is not enough, because medical professional liability is too closely tied to patient care and physician judgment to be entrusted to AI alone.
AI Scribe Risk Mitigation Checklist for Practices and Clinicians
Ambient AI scribe technology is rapidly becoming part of everyday clinical practice, helping reduce documentation burden and clinician burnout. At the same time, AI scribing introduces privacy, consent, and documentation-integrity risks that require careful management. Recent class-action litigation has highlighted the importance of obtaining meaningful patient consent before recording clinical encounters with ambient AI tools.
We encourage you to download our AI Scribe Risk Mitigation Checklist for Practices and Clinicians and share it with your clients to help support them with the safe and compliant use of AI scribes while reducing liability exposure.
You can also download and share The Doctors Company’s AI Checklist for Healthcare: Legal, Ethical, and Clinical Considerations, which translates the legal, ethical, and clinical decision-maker responsibilities for using AI tools into practical action items to help support the safe, legal, and ethical use of AI while reducing liability exposure.
Recent Article Provides Tips for Determining When a Colonoscopy Should Be Conducted Beyond CT Imaging
Colonoscopy remains the definitive diagnostic test for colorectal cancer in symptomatic patients. Failure to refer a symptomatic patient for colonoscopy is a common cause of malpractice claims, often due to a combination of cognitive bias, system failures, and misunderstanding of the limitations of CT imaging.
To help your clients understand this growing issue in clinical practice, our article in the third quarter issue of The Doctor’s Advocate, “A Negative CT Is Not Enough: Avoiding Missed Diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer,” provides insight into why these misses occur, gives practical prevention strategies, and provides recommendations to reduce liability.
American With Disabilities Act: Frequently Asked Questions
The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) plays an important role in ensuring patients with disabilities have meaningful access to healthcare. Complying with ADA guidelines requires proactive policies, staff training, facility assessments, and reliable accommodation processes to reduce legal risk and support equitable patient care.
These ADA FAQs offer practical guidance for your clients on ADA requirements, reasonable accommodations, effective communication, service animals, accessibility, and other considerations that can affect patient care and practice operations.
