Elite Agents and Brokers Attend Annual Napa Meeting

More than 75 of our most successful distribution partners for The Doctors Company and ProAssurance gathered with us at the Silverado Resort in Napa, California, for three days of education, networking, business strategy sessions with key company leaders, and high-energy leisure activities. We collectively celebrated several joint milestones of the two companies that are integrating as one, including both companies’ 50th anniversary and TDC Group’s Bold Legacy and Bright Future.

Highlights included an exclusive welcome reception for first-time attendees, a lakeside dinner at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, a special 50-year celebration at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Copia, optional wellness activities, and a winery luncheon at Alpha Omega Winery.

In addition, TDC Group leaders shared important cross-functional updates and exciting news about our integration with ProAssurance, as well as our current and future strategies in the medical professional liability (MPL) insurance market.

The presentations included:

  • 2026 TDC Group Update and Healthcare Update: Richard E. Anderson, MD, FACP, Chairman and CEO of The Doctors Company and TDC Group, provided company news updates and industry highlights. Dr. Anderson spoke in-depth about the integration of ProAssurance into TDC Group, including details on company accolades, 2025 financial performance, premium and surplus forecasts, member and insured counts, the breadth of our books of business, and our commitment to agents and brokers. He also addressed industry claims trends, nuclear / thermo-nuclear verdicts and our reserve adequacy, industry consolidation, the current state of healthcare delivery and implications for the future, the rise of AI and GLP-1 use in healthcare, and TDC Group strategic priorities until 2030.
  • The Doctors Company MPL Operations Update and Integration Overview: Deepika Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer of The Doctors Company, gave updates on the current MPL business environment, The Doctors Company’s strategic direction and competitive advantage in the market, year-to-date policy submissions, our technological transformation and progress of policy data conversions, a three-phase integration plan for ProAssurance, and leveraging our industry-leading databases to “increase our alpha” to increase the efficiency of our staff, processes, and technology, which will in turn support more successful growth of business with our agents and brokers.
  • Panel Discussion on Underwriting Trends and Appetite—Evolving Strategy in a Changing MPL Market: Moderated by The Doctors Company Business Development Vice President Kendra Heredia, this lively panel discussion with top Underwriting leaders of The Doctors Company and TDC Specialty Underwriters, as well as the Chief Actuary of TDC Group, generated a great deal of audience interaction and led to compelling insights on where technology can make underwriting faster and more consistent while keeping people involved, the foundation TDC Group has built to use data and AI responsibly at scale, reasons it matters to distinguish among the different tools commonly labeled as AI, and how we should distinguish the AI liability already emerging for professionals from potential frontier-model catastrophe risk.
  • Defending What’s Next—Leading Through a Changing Medical, Social, and Legal Landscape: Brittnie Hayes, Esq., Interim Senior Vice President of Claims for The Doctors Company, set the stage for her presentation by providing a history of how courts in the 1700s and 1800s resisted placing responsibility on practitioners for fear that willing caregivers would withdraw from practicing. Brittnie then switched gears to discuss The Doctors Company’s and TDC Group’s mission-driven work since 1976 to protect physicians and explained the changing landscape of the court system and the impacts that medical innovation, societal perception, and AI in the courtroom are having on outcomes of cases. Lastly, she discussed the impact that 2025 claims results and current litigation challenges are having on the agent and broker community.
  • TDC Group Partner Benchmarking and Incentive Update: Laura Kline, MBA, CPCU, CIC, Regional Operating Officer of The Doctors Company, Region II, and Senior Vice President of TDC Group Business Development, gave a distribution and Business Development update that revealed that The Doctors Company’s Chairman’s Circle and Key Agencies and ProAssurance’s Leadership Elite Brokers produce approximately 70 percent of all agent and broker inforce premium. She segued into the benchmarking and performance numbers of these agents/brokers, citing key figures on submission volumes and hit ratios for each respective group. She ended her presentation by describing all of the sales incentives and programs TDC Group offers these elite groups of agents/brokers—incentives our competitors are not able to replicate.

After the presentations concluded, guests put on their best and brightest attire for a 50th anniversary blowout at CIA at Copia, complete with a live band—Wonderbread 5—that covered dance music spanning from the 1970s all the way through to present-day pop hits.

Photos from the three-day meeting and several speaker presentations can be viewed and downloaded on TDC Group’s website at tdcg.com/2026-aabm.
