Dr. Anderson and Deepika Share AI Insights

Artificial intelligence (AI) and the abundance of questions surrounding its use in the medical setting is certainly one of the most critical topics of discussion and speculation for you and your clients today.

The Doctors Company and TDC Group Chairman and CEO Richard E. Anderson, MD, FACP, recently discussed “Why AI Has Outpaced Medical Malpractice Law, and What to Do About It” on The Podcast by KevinMD. On this compelling podcast, Dr. Anderson argues that the gap between what AI can do clinically and what courts are ready to judge has created a difficult position for physicians, and that it will take a long time for the system to catch up.

In “AI and Data Help The Doctors Company Sharpen Its Edge,” published by Insurance Business America, Deepika Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer of The Doctors Company, discusses how a purposeful, disciplined approach built on the conviction that data is the foundation of everything—and that human expertise is not optional—is essential when leveraging AI in medical professional liability.

We encourage you to listen to and read these informative pieces by our company executives and share them with your clients to keep them informed about the continuing developments of AI in healthcare.

Bob White Breaks Down What’s Driving Medical Malpractice Trends Today

Patient safety improvements, stronger risk management practices, and legislative reforms in many states have contributed to lower malpractice claims frequency and a more balanced liability environment. But malpractice pricing is driven by both frequency and severity: how often claims occur and how costly they become when they do.

In this recent article, “Fewer Physicians Report Being Sued but Medical Malpractice Claim Severity Keeps Rising,” TDC Group President Robert E. White, Jr., examines the factors driving higher claim severity—including social inflation, rising economic damages, and larger jury awards—and how it impacts your clients and their patients.
