The Doctors Company Foundation works to support patient safety research and educational training. Here is the latest news:
- In May, the Foundation once again sponsored the Lucian Leap Institute Keynote Plenary for the 2021 Institute for Healthcare Improvement Patient Safety Congress. This year, Foundation Vice Chair Robert M. Wachter, MD, joined Lucian Leape, MD, as a keynote speaker. The Patient Safety Congress (held virtually for the first time since its inception in 2002) drew 562 attendees, who joined the plenary session to learn from these two internationally recognized patient safety pioneers.
- The Foundation Board welcomes new Director Daniel Kent Cassavar, MD, MBA. Dr. Cassavar, an interventional cardiologist, is the former President and Chief Medical Officer of ProMedica Physicians, a network of specialized hospitals, facilities, researchers, physicians, and advanced practice providers. He has published extensively and been the principal investigator on numerous clinical trials. Dr. Cassavar also serves on The Doctors Company Board of Governors and on its Patient Safety Committee.
