Diagnostic process failure resulting in delayed, wrong, or missed diagnoses has been identified as a serious and often preventable harm in healthcare. To prevent diagnostic error, nurse practitioners (NPs) should be aware of the most misdiagnosed conditions and understand the risks associated with cognitive bias.
