Foundation Elects New Board Chair Megan Mahoney, MD, MBA
In May, The Doctors Company Foundation Board gave a fond farewell to William C. Rupp, MD, as he retired from his role as Chair, a position he had served in since 2018. Dr. Rupp is a former Chief Executive Officer of the Mayo Clinic in Florida and a board-certified physician with 32 years of experience in the fields of hematology and medical oncology.
The Board elected Megan Mahoney, MD, MBA, as new Chair. Dr. Mahoney, who joined the Foundation Board in 2022, is the Hellman Endowed Professor and Chair in the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Family & Community Medicine, a department with a recognized legacy of defining the role of academic family medicine in the United States. Prior to joining UCSF, Dr. Mahoney was the Chief of Staff of Stanford Health Care and Professor in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University. She provided oversight of quality, safety, and professionalism activities for the 3,000 physicians within Stanford Health Care and previously served as Stanford Health Care’s Chief of Primary Care. She serves as a Member of the Finance and Risk and Patient Safety Committees at The Doctors Company.
