Foundation Announces 2019 Grant Recipients

How does The Doctors Company Foundation accomplish its mission to advance the practice of good medicine? Specifically, the Foundation carries out its work by supporting patient safety education for healthcare professionals in training and in practice and patient safety research with clinically useful applications.

In demonstrating the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to patient safety education, the 2019 grant awards continue to provide support to the following organizations:

  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) for the Lucian Leape Institute Keynote Plenary at the 22nd Annual IHI Patient Safety Congress in May 2020.
  • MedStar Washington Hospital Center Foundation for the 2020 Academy for Emerging Leaders in Patient Safety: The Telluride Experience Medical and Nursing School Summer Camps.

The Foundation also awarded 2019 grants to support two new research projects:

  • Northwestern University for The Effect of Clinical Reasoning Feedback on Hospital Medicine Physicians and Residents.
  • University of California, San Francisco, for The Family Input for Quality and Safety (FIQS) Study.

As they become available, we will provide study outcomes in future issues of The Doctor’s Advocate.
