The Doctor’s Advocate | First Quarter 2021
From the Chairman

Committed to Assisting Our Members

Richard E. Anderson, MD, FACP, Chairman and CEO, The Doctors Company, and Leader of the TDC Group of Companies

The TDC Group of companies (TDC Group)—The Doctors Company, Healthcare Risk Advisors, TDC Specialty Underwriters, and Medical Advantage—supports the safe and timely distribution of FDA-approved vaccines to fight the COVID-19 virus.

As part of our mission to advance the practice of good medicine, we encourage healthcare providers to remain vigilant about patient safety considerations when administering these medications. As with any medical intervention, the risks and benefits of the vaccination should be discussed with the patient, and the results of the discussion should be documented in the medical record.

We are committed to answering the important questions healthcare providers have and assisting our members as the vaccination distribution proceeds over the next several months. Find answers on our page dedicated to FAQs About COVID-19 Vaccinations.

It is our privilege to serve you as you care for all of us.

The Doctor’s Advocate is published by The Doctors Company to advise and inform its members about loss prevention and insurance issues.

The guidelines suggested in this newsletter are not rules, do not constitute legal advice, and do not ensure a successful outcome. They attempt to define principles of practice for providing appropriate care. The principles are not inclusive of all proper methods of care nor exclusive of other methods reasonably directed at obtaining the same results.

The ultimate decision regarding the appropriateness of any treatment must be made by each healthcare provider considering the circumstances of the individual situation and in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the care is rendered.
