The Doctors Company Celebrates Second Responders
Napa, California—October 3, 2018—One year after the North Bay wildfires, the Napa Valley community will honor individuals and organizations that supported victims and their families in the fires’ aftermath—the second responders.
The Doctors Company and the Napa Valley Community Foundation will host Celebrating Second Responders on Wednesday, October 3, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Westin Verasa Hotel in Napa. Napa and Sonoma elected officials and civic leaders will present awards.
The event hosts will unveil a new local disaster relief fund: The Doctors Company Fund, a donor-advised fund managed by the Napa Valley Community Foundation. Recipients will receive $127,000 in initial grants.
Terence Mulligan, president of the Napa Valley Community Foundation, said: “The new fund will make grants to more than two dozen nonprofits that have played, and continue to play, an essential role in helping residents of Napa and Sonoma Counties recover from the devastating North Bay fires. We are truly grateful to The Doctors Company for recognizing and honoring the work of these second responders with their financial support.”
Among those to be recognized is Mohamed A. Jalloh, Pharm.D., of Touro University California College of Pharmacy and OLE Health in Napa. Dr. Jalloh arranged for a local transportation company to donate a bus for a day so that patients could be transported between shelters and OLE Health. Dr. Jalloh provided additional rides in his car.
More stories about second responders are featured in a series of short videos.
