Napa, California—November 12, 2015—The Doctors Company, the nation’s largest physician-owned medical malpractice insurer, won Social Media Campaign of the Year—Silver Award at the Marketing IMPACT Awards for its online resources that help physicians leverage the power of social media.
Presented by Modern Healthcare and Advertising Age, the awards recognize the best in healthcare advertising, marketing promotion, and communication campaigns across all media platforms. The winners were announced October 29 during Modern Healthcare’s 2015 Strategic Marketing Conference in Chicago.
Launched in March, The Doctors Company’s unique Social Media Resource Center provides physicians the tools they need to enhance patient care, improve patient satisfaction, and manage their reputation using social media platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The resource center, the first of its kind in the industry, focuses on social media’s important role in the changing healthcare environment.

The resource center help doctors harness social media while reducing liability risks and protecting patient privacy. It includes 12 educational videos created in partnership with Kevin Pho, MD, founder and editor of KevinMD.com. In the videos, Dr. Pho offers doctors expert advice on topics such as how to establish a consistent brand on social networking sites and how to use social media to curate reliable health information for patients.
Other resources include a video detailing best practices for interacting with patients on social media and five interactive quick-start guides for establishing a presence on the major social media sites. The online resource center also features The Doctors Company’s social media guide, “How Physicians Can Harness Social Media,” a step-by-step guide for doctors to building, monitoring, and protecting their online reputation.
