Napa, California—May 11, 2017—The Doctors Company, the nation’s largest physician-owned medical malpractice insurer, is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert M. Wachter, MD, to the Board of Governors. Dr. Wachter is professor and chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and a thought leader in organization of care, quality, patient safety, and digital health.

He has published more than 250 articles and six books, including the New York Times bestseller The Digital Doctor: Hope, Hype, and Harm at the Dawn of Medicine’s Computer Age. He is past president of the Society of Hospital Medicine.
