Napa, California—March 12, 2013—The Doctors Company, the nation’s largest medical malpractice insurer, announced today its latest video, “Mentorship in Medicine,” featuring Donald J. Palmisano, MD, JD, FACS, member of The Doctors Company’s Board of Governors and former president of the American Medical Association.
In the short video, Dr. Palmisano outlines the importance of physician leaders being mentors to their colleagues and the benefits of physicians seeking mentors. He provides a personal account of a time he was persistent in contacting a famous surgeon to obtain advice about a patient, which he believes helped in achieving a beneficial outcome. Dr. Palmisano has published two books on leadership: The Little Red Book of Leadership Lessons and On Leadership.
“Advancing the practice of good medicine is part of The Doctors Company’s mission,” said Stacy Schultz, vice president of marketing for The Doctors Company. “We are proud to provide Dr. Palmisano’s insights on how mentorship promotes good medicine and patient safety.”
