Patient Safety Awareness Week Marked by The Doctors Company

Top Five Tips to Promote Patient Safety Is Focus of Special Week’s Offerings

Napa, California—March 4, 2013—The Doctors Company, the nation’s largest medical malpractice insurer, announced today that it will mark Patient Safety Awareness Week (PSAW), March 3 to 9, by providing physicians and other health care providers with the top five tips to promote patient safety.

PSAW is an annual education and awareness campaign for improving patient safety led by the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF). To mark PSAW 2013, The Doctors Company is issuing a downloadable compilation of key patient safety articles, providing infographics on the top five tips to promote patient safety, and announcing an opportunity to earn CME credit with a Webinar about “The Top Five Risks in the Office Practice” on March 19. Details on these offerings and events can be found at www.thedoctors.com/psaw.

“As a leader in patient safety, we are once again honored to participate in Patient Safety Awareness Week by providing valuable information to assist physicians and other health care providers in improving the quality of patient care and decreasing the number of adverse events,” said Robin Diamond, JD, RN, chief patient safety officer for The Doctors Company.

The Doctors Company’s longstanding commitment to advancing patient safety and a meaningful partnership with NPSF has meant direct involvement between the two entities. The Doctors Company Chairman and CEO, Richard E. Anderson, MD, FACP, serves on the Board of Directors at NPSF, and Ms. Diamond serves as a member of the planning committee for the National Patient Safety Foundation Congress.
