The Doctors Company Wins Top Award for Lawsuit Support Program Video
Napa, California—June 27, 2012—The Doctors Company, the nation’s largest medical malpractice insurer, received a top insurance industry award for a video depicting the company’s innovative efforts to help physicians cope with the emotional fallout from lawsuits and provide them with powerful tools to be more effective and assured in court.
The company won a Best of Show award from the Insurance Marketing and Communications Association (IMCA) Showcase(TM) Awards, the longest‐running creative competition for insurance marketing and communications professionals. Elite entries are recognized with Best of Show and Awards of Excellence in more than 30 categories. The award, in the category of Public Relations, Single Piece, was presented last night in Denver.
The video tells the story of the company’s Litigation Education Retreats, an exclusive service for members of The Doctors Company who are involved in a malpractice claim. The video features interviews with a physician who attended a retreat and later won his case, a defense attorney, and the CEO of The Doctors Company, himself a physician who has experienced litigation.
The retreats help physicians learn about the litigation process through participation in mock trial simulation and feedback from trial lawyers and peers. The retreats also help physicians understand and overcome the stress and anxiety associated with malpractice claims. The outcome is that physicians become stronger, more confident members of their own defense.
“We’re honored to receive industry recognition for defending the practice of good medicine,” said Stacy Schultz, vice president of marketing for The Doctors Company. “For first-time defendants, the retreats serve a critical purpose at a critical time and are an example of our commitment to serving the doctors we insure.”
