CALAOMS Announces Exclusive Sponsorship of The Doctors Company

Napa, California—May 4, 2009—The Doctors Company, the largest national insurer of physician, surgeon, and oral and maxillofacial surgeon medical liability, is pleased to announce that the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS) continues its exclusive sponsorship of the company’s medical professional liability program through 2011.

The Doctors Company succeeds The SCPIE Companies, which were acquired by The Doctors Company in 2008, as CALAOMS’s sponsored carrier. CALAOMS had sponsored SCPIE for more than 22 years and recognized The Doctors Company’s unrivaled protection and benefits as well as the continuation of the excellent service SCPIE had always offered.

“As the largest oral and maxillofacial surgeon carrier in California, The Doctors Company is well positioned to anticipate and meet the needs of CALAOMS members,” said Gerald Gelfand, DMD, member of the CALAOMS board. “CALAOMS recognizes the enhanced value of The Doctors Company, its service, aggressive legal defense, and the Tribute® Plan, a financial benefit program that rewards members for their loyalty to the company and their commitment to superior patient care.”

Key program benefits include lower rates, tail vesting at any age, broad liability limits, and industry-leading patient safety and risk management programs. CALAOMS members will also be eligible for the Tribute Plan. For more information, visit www.thedoctors.com/join.
