The Doctors Company Names Richard E. Anderson Chief Executive Officer
Napa, California—October 20, 2003—The Doctors Company’s Board of Governors today announced that Chairman Richard Anderson, M.D., widely recognized national advocate for medical-legal reform, will assume the additional role and title of chief executive officer.
Speaking on behalf of the Board, Lead Director Robert B. Sheppard said of Dr. Anderson, “Richard has shown a tireless dedication to advocating in defense of the practice of good medicine, a principle this company was founded on. In naming him our chairman and chief executive officer, we demonstrate our confidence in his leadership and faith in his vision for the future of The Doctors Company.”

Dr. Anderson has served on the company’s Board of Governors since 1983, and has served as chairman since 1994. Previously, he was a clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and was a past chairman of the Department of Medicine at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California, where he served as senior oncologist for 18 years.
