A study recently published in the Journal of Healthcare Risk Management, “Analysis of Patient Injury Based on Anesthesiology Closed Claims Data from a Major Malpractice Insurer,” reviewed 607 anesthesia-related claims reported by The Doctors Company. This study found that although recent trends show a decline in anesthesia-related deaths, patient injuries do still occur. Patients and physicians can take steps to help reduce these injuries.
