Seeking Entries for the 2013 Young Physicians Patient Safety Award
For the third year, The Doctors Company Foundation has partnered with the Lucian Leape Institute of the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) to sponsor the Young Physicians Patient Safety Award—an award that recognizes young physicians for their deep personal insight into the significance of patient safety work.
All third- and fourth-year medical students and first-year residents who were in a hospital setting as of June 2012 are eligible to submit an essay of up to 1,000 words by February 4, 2013. Six winners will be selected to receive $5,000 and registration and travel expenses to NPSF’s 15th Annual Patient Safety Congress.
“The Doctors Company Foundation believes it is important to make the culture of safety an integral part of the culture of medicine,” said Leona Egeland Siadek, the Foundation’s executive director. “We hope members of The Doctors Company who work with medical students and residents will encourage them to write an essay and submit it to NPSF.”
