Fitch Ratings Affirms Our “A” Ratings

Fitch Ratings has affirmed our “A” (Strong) Insurer Financial Strength (IFS) ratings. Fitch also announced that the rating outlook for all ratings is “Stable.”

The ratings are based on The Doctors Company’s above-average underwriting performance and profitability compared to its medical professional liability insurance peers, favorable loss reserve levels, strong statutory capital position, and an operating strategy that is focused on long-term underwriting profitability.

Premium Discount Offered to Oncologists from Certified Practices

Oncologists who achieve quality certification through the QOPI® Certification Program will be eligible for up to a 10 percent discount on their malpractice insurance through a collaboration between The Doctors Company and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Inc. (ASCO®), and its wholly owned subsidiary, QOPI® Certification Program, LLC (QCP).

Physicians participating in outpatient hematology-oncology practices who receive the three-year Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification will be eligible for the discount. Eligible physicians who are in already-certified practices may receive the discount on their next insurance renewal upon request.

“We are proud to collaborate with ASCO and QCP to recognize QOPI Certified practices that have demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding oncology care,” said Richard E. Anderson, MD, FACP, chairman and CEO. “Member programs like this support our mission to defend, protect, and reward the practice of good medicine.”

QOPI is a voluntary self-assessment and improvement program launched by ASCO in 2006 to help hematology-oncology and medical oncology practices assess the quality of care they provide to patients.
